Yesterday I saw a movie AND finished a book. What are the chances? I'll start with the movie.
Mamma Mia

Now, first I must say that I am the only person in the world who has never seen the play version of this story. Tried as I might, the one time I was in NYC we couldn't get tickets and had to see Cabaret instead. Not impressed.
(yes, that is Molly Ringwald)
Anyway- this movie was...fabulously terrible. And I liked it.
I have to admit, the awkwardness of seeing Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan spontaneously break out into ABBA tunes really never did go away, but it started to grow on me just a bit.
The one thing I kept thinking about was...you know there had to be some people who had absolutely no idea what Mamma Mia was about, and said "Oooh! A new Pierce Brosnan movie! Let's go see that." So...Mr. & Mrs. Babyboomer shell out the ridiculous amount of cash for the movie and popcorn...settle into their seats and wait for 007 to make his appearance.
Huh. This is weird. Why are these people singing?
Oh- there's Meryl. Good. Oh. She's singing too.
Hmm.
(Enter Pierce)

Finally!

You've got to be kidding me.
Let's go.
So the movie made me realize a few things....
1. I am going to live in Greece someday
2. I need to go find my ABBA cd as soon as possible.
3. I still love Colin Firth

Next...Book Review... Breaking Dawn.... I'm going to cut this. There are spoilers.

Also...I have accepted that none of my local friends are ever going to read this series so I am going to have to go to the movie by myself in December. Harumpfffff.
